What is an electric bike?

When someone hears electric bicycle, many imagine a motorcycle or scooter. E-bikes are actually just a regular bicycle, with electrical components to it like a motor, a battery, and a controller for one big package of fun.

Electric bikes pedal and handle just like a regular bicycle. The electric component is human-powered but allows hills, distance, headwinds, to be more manageable. We warn you now, you may have to manually release your smile at the end of a ride, you will be grinning the whole time.

Electric bicycles are designed to be easy to operate and are beginner biker friendly. Our e-bikes are Class 1 electric bikes which means they do not have a throttle and their maximum speed output by human power is 20mph. You can take them as slow or as fast as you feel comfortable. Your guide will adjust the pace to keep all guests feeling safe and having fun.

You can pedal an electric bicycle just as you would a regular one. There is no extra resistance it will feel exactly as a regular bicycle would. Or you can use “Pedal Assist” mode, combining human plus electric power. In this mode the motor will smoothly generate electric power as you pedal. It is an amazing experience to have and watching others experience it for the first time is second to nothing.

Pedal-assist mode provides three levels of assistance: Low (30%), Medium (60%), and High (100%). The percentage simply indicates how much additional power the motor will provide to complement your pedaling. The low setting adds an additional 30% of power to your pedaling, while High essentially doubles it. A simple press of a button switches you through the different levels.
